HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. – The Collierville High School men's cross country team capped off a remarkable 2024 season with a standout performance at the TSSAA State Championships, earning a spot in the Elite Eight. Competing on the picturesque Sanders Ferry Park course under perfect fall conditions, the Dragons finished 7th out of 24 teams, solidifying their place among Tennessee’s top cross country programs.
The Dragons' impressive finish marks the second-best result in school history. In 2017, Collierville placed 5th at the state meet, and this year’s performance further elevates the program's reputation for excellence.
Senior Ty Durst led the way for Collierville, wrapping up a stellar high school career with a personal best time of 16:27.54. Durst’s effort was crucial in keeping the Dragons competitive against some of the state’s top teams.
Alongside Durst, the Dragons were supported by strong performances from teammates Jacob Roper, Caden Lindsay, Georgios Kavouras, Jase McCloskey, Pierre Kavouras, and Thatcher Grace. Each runner contributed to the team’s overall score, ensuring a solid finish in the tightly contested race.
The Collierville team, coached by Lori Streitmatter, has become a perennial contender in the state meet, and this year's finish further underscores the depth of talent and hard work that has gone into the building of a successful program.
