Collierville, Tenn. – Collierville High School has announced the appointment of Clay Greene as the Interim Head Baseball Coach for the Dragons baseball program.

Greene served as an assistant coach for the Dragons during the 2023-2025 seasons. His promotion brings an experienced leader with an extensive collegiate and professional baseball background to the helm of one of Tennessee's premier high school programs.

Prior to joining Collierville High School, Greene had a distinguished coaching career including stops at the University of Memphis, East Tennessee State University, and the University of Tennessee. He joined the University of Memphis in 2012 following six successful seasons at East Tennessee State and three seasons at the University of Tennessee. He helped lead the Volunteers to the 2005 College World Series.

At Memphis, Greene helped engineer offensive success that included 87 stolen bases in 2015—the program's highest total since 1994—and consistently guided Tiger offenses that ranked among the best in
Conference USA. His emphasis on aggressive baserunning, player development, and offensive efficiency became hallmarks of his coaching philosophy.

As a player, Greene enjoyed a standout collegiate career at Tennessee, helping the Volunteers reach NCAA Regionals in 1996 and 1997. A gifted centerfielder, he led the nation with 54 stolen bases during his senior
season and finished his Volunteer career with a .318 batting average and 87 stolen bases. He was selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 1997 Major League Baseball Draft and played four seasons in the organization's minor league system.

A native of Cleveland, Tennessee, Greene earned his degree in Sport Management from the University of Tennessee in 2001. He and his wife, Heather, a former Tennessee soccer player, have deep roots in the
Collierville athletic community. Their son, AJ Greene, was a standout linebacker and catcher for the Dragons and currently plays baseball at the University of Memphis. Their daughter, Katelyn Greene, is a rising senior at Collierville High School and a member of the Lady Dragons soccer program.
