Collierville, Tenn. – Collierville High School announced Friday that Jarvis Stephen has been named the Dragons’ new head boys’ basketball coach. Stephen comes to Collierville with an abundance of experience, most recently demonstrated at Rust College as both the men’s basketball coach and the school’s athletic director.
“We are extremely excited for Coach Jarvis Stephen to take the helm as the head coach of CHS boys’ basketball team,” said Principal Roger Jones. “Coach Stephen brings more than 15 years of experience in athletic administration, coaching, and education. In addition, he has a proven record of building basketball programs on a strong foundation of high moral character, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in the classroom and on the court.”
A 2002 graduate of Rust College, Stephen served as the school’s athletic director from 2021 to 2024. While serving in that role, Stephen was named president of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) in 2023. During the 2022 campaign, Stephen was appointed as the interim men’s basketball coach. Three squad members that season earned either first or second team All-GCAC honors, including both the GCAC Player of the Year and the GCAC Defensive Player of the Year.
Prior to joining the Bearcats, Stephen led Ridgeway Middle School to a pair of TMSAA Class AAA Boys’ State Championships in 2018 and 2020. He also served as an athletic director with Memphis Shelby County Schools, directing and coordinating the athletic programs at Ridgeway Middle School and Germantown High School until his departure for Rust. His coaching career with Memphis Shelby County Schools began in 2006.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health & Leisure Management from Rust College and a Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine. He has continued his professional development in coaching by attending the Jerry Stackhouse Coaches Clinic, the Shaka Smart Coaches Clinic, and the Tubby Smith Coaches Clinic.
