Germantown, TN – The Collierville High School women’s track and field team delivered a commanding and historic performance at the Sectional meet Saturday at Houston High School. The Dragons overwhelmed the competition and will send a strong contingent of athletes to the TSSAA State Championships on May 21 at the University of Tennessee. The Lady Dragons are back-to-back state champions looking to 3-peat.
Collierville left no doubt who owned the day, racking up an impressive 233 team points, more than doubling second-place Bartlett (108) and comfortably ahead of Brentwood (84). The dominant showing highlighted the team’s depth, star power, and championship pedigree.
Leading the charge was Vanderbilt signee Khari Webb, who turned in a remarkable all-around performance. Webb captured first place in four events and set a new school record in the 100-meter hurdles, blazing to a time of 13.93. She also claimed victories in the 300 hurdles (42.12), long jump (19-4.75), and high jump (5-6), continuing what has already been a decorated career.
A two-time Athlete of the Year and multiple state champion, Webb’s Sectional performance further cemented her status as one of the state’s premier athletes. She previously added a pentathlon title earlier in postseason competition, showcasing her versatility.
The Lady Dragons also shined in the relay events, highlighted by a Sectional championship in the 4x200-meter relay. The team of Zoe Vaughn, Onose Aigbomian, Anna Buckhold, and Kylie Barksdale delivered a state-qualifying run with a time of 1:39.32.
Sprint dominance was evident across the board, particularly in the 100-meter dash, where the Lady Dragons completed a clean sweep of the podium. Kylie Walden led the way with a first-place finish in 11.00, followed by Barksdale in second at 11.99, and Kennedi Woods in third with a time of 12.06.
Field events proved equally impressive for Collierville. Ehi Aigbomian delivered a standout performance, capturing first place in both the triple jump (38-11.5) and shot put (37-7.5), adding valuable points to the team’s dominant total. Meanwhile, pole vault specialist Ava Williams cleared 13-0 to secure another Sectional title for the Dragons.
With the momentum, the Lady Dragons now turn their focus to the TSSAA State Championships on May 21, where they will look to build on their Sectional success and compete for another state title. Stay tuned.
