Collierville, TN – In a thrilling showdown at Collierville High’s MyTownMovers Fieldhouse, the Collierville High School volleyball team staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Mississippi's defending 7A state champions, 3-2, on Thursday night.
The match started with intense competition as both teams exchanged leads in a nail-biting first set. Despite the fierce contest, the Patriots emerged victorious with a narrow 25-23 win. The second set mirrored the intensity of the first, with the Dragons falling just short again, losing 25-23.
However, Coach Lindsey Vicknair’s squad turned the tide in the subsequent sets. Demonstrating impressive offensive prowess, the Dragons took control and secured the next three sets decisively: 25-16, 25-17, and 15-4, ultimately sealing the match with a 3-2 victory.
With this win, Collierville improves to 2-0 for the season. The Dragons are set to continue their strong performance as they return to the court on Friday for their annual "Volley In The Ville" tournament. Collierville will face St. Mary's at 4 p.m., followed by a matchup against another Mississippi powerhouse, Oxford, at 7 p.m.
