In game one of a best of three series versus Rossview, with a state tournament appearance on the line, Thomas Crabtree had himself a day. Crabtree got the Collierville offense going with a solo home run in the top of the 1st inning. The two-way standout player then started the rally in the seventh inning with a leadoff single. He would score the go-ahead run in a 2-2 tie game off a sacrifice fly by Matthew Autry. Cael Allen would deliver a second sacrifice fly soon after, scoring Gevin Gresham, for added insurance. Collierville would win the game one thriller, 4-2.
Joey Caruso had a double for the Dragons.
On the mound, Ari Bethea went 5 innings and allowed just two hits. He struck out five. Keaton Baird would pick up the win in relief after recording the final six outs. Baird allowed just one hit and struck out three in his two innings of scoreless work.
Game 2 is scheduled for Friday (May 18), 6pm, at The Nest at Rossview.
