Needing a win to advance to the TSSAA Regional Tournament, the Collierville High School softball made a statement early with a 16-6 all-around team effort win over Houston on Monday (May 8).

After a nine run first inning, the Dragons lead was comfortable from the start. They would score in each of the five innings with a run in the second, three in the third, a pair of runs in the fourth, and then the lone run they needed in the 5th inning for the mercy rule victory.

Sophomore phenom catcher, Addison Morgan, led the offensive attack with three hits. Tara Wilburn was 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored and the 3 runs batted in. Molly Davis and Maryn Macri also had two hits.

The return of Kate Hogan back in the Dragons line-up after an early season injury has been a major boost. Hogan connected on a 2-run home run in the fourth inning that sailed over the left center field wall. She finished the day going 2-for-3, with two runs scored, and a team best 4 RBIs.

Emma Wolfe was again effective in the circle. Wolfe threw the complete game and only allowed one base on balls.

Collierville will now have an opportunity to play for the District Championship. The Dragons will need to beat Arlington twice and will get the first rip at it, tonight, at 5pm. The if necessary game would then follow.
