The Collierville High School volleyball team battled with the state's top teams over the weekend and left Middle Tennessee Saturday with eager hopes to return in October.

The annual Border Battle is the state's premier tournament in regards to the preparation for the TSSAA State Championships that are in October.

Collierville suffered defeats in three pool play games to defending state champion Nolensville, Cleveland and Briarcrest Christian.

The Dragons rebounded in the gold bracket with wins over Hardin Valley and perennial power Brentwood. It was an epic rematch with Cleveland in the semi-finals of the gold bracket, but the Blue Raiders prevailed 15-25, 25-14, 15-12.

The pair of wins in the tournament gave the Dragons nineteen on the year.

Collierville (19-7) will have an opportunity for win no. 20 on Tuesday when they host Desoto Central (MS) at 6pm in the My Town Movers Fieldhouse.
