The Collierville High School Lady Dragon soccer team captured the Region 8 Women’s Soccer Tournament title on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over Houston High in the championship game at Houston Middle School. With Wednesday’s win, Collierville will host the Region 7 runner-up in the Sectional Championship - tentatively scheduled for Saturday.
Junior forward Sophia Cherry had a beautiful goal in the first half, that tied the game 1-1, then had a perfectly placed corner kick that Olivia Boscaccy had a header to give the Dragons the lead they would not let vanish.
Collierville improves to 13-1-1 and continues to stay unbeaten to all district and region opponents in 2021.
