On October 2, the Collierville Girls cross-country team competed in the Jesse Owens Classic in Oakville, Alabama. Freshmen Scarlett Nash led a complete team effort, finishing with a time of 19:43. The 1-5 pack time of 26 seconds was a season best, allowing the team to finish 6th in a field of 63 teams and 2nd among Tennessee schools. Senior captain and Arkansas State verbal commitment Emma Hurlbut and freshmen Ava Lang joined Nash and sophomores Sydney Collins, Bella Carothers, Allie Timms, and Maya McCloskey in a close knit group through the 2.5 mile mark. The strength of the pack allowed the Dragons to achieve their highest finish ever at the prestigious meet. All four sophomores ran personal best times.

In addition, the girls JV team ( #8-14 runners) ran in the varsity division and placed 27th out of 63 teams. Freshmen Maggie Webber ran a personal record of 20:48 to lead the JV group.

The team’s second JV team (#15-21 runners) placed 3rd in the JV division, competing against other schools’ first team JV. Freshmen Abby Chinn and Addie Bogda were the top CHS finishers in this race.

The Varsity girls are currently ranked 4th in the State and will next compete at the Saturday Light Fever race in Hendersonville on October 9.

Varsity Girls Record: 134-16 (.893)
