With a pair of junior captains and five freshmen, the girls varsity team ground out an impressive second place finish, defeating favored Northridge High School by 1 point (46-47). Freshmen Sydney Collins paced the Dragons in a time of 20:10 and a 6th place finish overall. Collins’ time was the 2nd fastest of all time for a Dragon freshmen. Captain Emma Hurlbut finished right behind her in a PR of 20:14. Captain Caroline Moerbe ran a 5k cross-country best of 20:42 and Maya McCloskey was 4th on the team in a time of 20:49. Newcomers Bella Carothers (21:29 PR), Allie Timms (21:37 PR), and Lauren Moerbe (21:55 PR) rounded out the top 7. Moerbe fending off the 5th Northridge runner by .89 secs sealed the deal for the Dragons; otherwise, the 2nd and 3rd placed results would have been reversed. Nice work, ladies. This is only the beginning.

The last time the Lady Dragons put 7 under 22 on the same day?? You’d have to go back to October 1, 2011! These freshmen would have been in their first quarter of kindergarten!!
ACA is a solid team up front, but I would like to acknowledge the hard work of all our ladies by pointing out that we did put 10 of our girls in front of their 6th runner.

Saturday, October 31 @ 1:30pm at 7700 Flaherty Place, Bartlett TN, The team of Loden, Francis, Bologna, Pavani Epparla, Mackenzie Toussaint, Mary Katherine Arthur, Sam Jessop, Tania Binu, Cotham, and Gonzalez will attempt to repeat as Memphis JV Champions.
