The Collierville High School Lady Dragon Soccer team delivered a commanding performance in the Sectional Championship, overwhelming Henry County with a 9-0 victory Saturday afternoon to secure their spot in next week’s TSSAA State Tournament in Chattanooga.
Collierville wasted no time asserting control, as sophomore Caroline Anglin found the back of the net within the first three minutes of play. Moments later, Piper Williams added a second goal, setting the tone for a relentless offensive surge. The Lady Dragons closed out the first half with goals from Avi Pompa, Kaitlyn Lewis, Williams (her second of the match), and Finley Powell, taking a dominant 6-0 lead into halftime.
The second half saw continued defensive excellence from Collierville, limiting Henry County’s scoring opportunities and maintaining pressure on both ends of the field. Anglin and Pompa each added another goal, and Gillan Arey capped off the scoring with the ninth goal of the night.
With the win, Collierville improves to 14-0-1 and earns the #1 seed in the state tournament via the new RPI rankings. The Lady Dragons will face #8 seed Siegel in the opening round, Tuesday 11am EST, at Chattanooga Baylor.
Henry County concludes their season with a 13-4-3 record.
