Both the Collierville High School men's and women's tennis teams are headed to Murfreesboro this week, each just two wins away from a state championship. Under the guidance of veteran head coach Tony Cherone, the Dragons have once again proven to be a dominant force in Tennessee high school tennis.

The boys' team secured its spot in the final four with a string of commanding postseason victories. Collierville claimed the district title by defeating rival Houston, then went on to top White Station in the regional championship. The Dragons punched their ticket to the state tournament with a road win over Dyer County in the sectional round.

Now, Collierville is set to face Hume Fogg in the TSSAA State Semifinals. The match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro.

Following the boys’ match, the Lady Dragons will take the courts for their own semifinal showdown — against 2023 State Champion Science Hill. The girls’ team earned their place in the tournament by defeating Arlington on the road for the district championship, overcoming White Station at The University of Memphis for the regional title, and sweeping Clarksville in the sectional round.

Their semifinal match is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., also at the Adams Tennis Complex.

With both teams riding strong postseason momentum, Collierville tennis is once again making a powerful statement on the state stage.
