The Collierville High School softball team returned to form in commanding fashion Thursday night, overwhelming Evangelical Christian School with a decisive 16-1 victory.

The Lady Dragons came out swinging, erupting for 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning to set the tone early. Karrington Mitchell sparked the offensive explosion with a double to the left-center gap, driving in the game’s first run. She finished the night with three RBIs.

Kendall Harper also delivered in the opening frame, ripping an RBI double as part of her two-hit performance. Collierville capitalized on a pair of Eagles errors to extend the inning and pile on the runs.

First baseman Hannah Shoup turned in a perfect night at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

In the circle, Blue Flanders kept the Eagles in check, allowing just two hits and one run over a strong outing. She struck out five to earn the win.

With the victory, Collierville improves to 8-8-1 on the season and will look to build momentum when they travel to face Briarcrest Christian on Tuesday.
