The Collierville High School Lady Dragons extended their perfect record to 6-0 with a decisive 51-29 victory over Briarcrest Christian on Friday evening. Led by a game-high 18 points from senior Hilary Shikuku, the Lady Dragons used a scorching start to build a large lead from the tip and remain undefeated.
Collierville wasted no time establishing control in the matchup, bursting out of the gates with an impressive 16-5 lead after the first quarter. The Lady Dragons’ defense stifled Briarcrest, limiting their scoring opportunities and forcing multiple turnovers, while their offense flowed smoothly, capitalizing on fast breaks and solid ball movement.
Briarcrest struggled to find its rhythm throughout the contest, managing just 14 points in the second half for a comeback effort. Collierville’s offense continued to roll as the game progressed, with balanced scoring from multiple players and a commanding presence on the boards - notably sophomore center Ehi Aigbomian.
Junior LA Jennings added 9 points for the Lady Dragons and was a constant threat, both as a scorer and playmaker. Meanwhile, junior Jekhyra Rodgers chipped in 8 points and contributed solid minutes as the team's point guard, helping to maintain the Lady Dragons' momentum.
Collierville will look to continue their winning ways Saturday evening with a game that has been circled on their calendar for months. The Lady Dragons will participate in the Dynamix Hoopfest in Jackson and will be challenged by a very physical Martin Westiew team - a perennial state power. Tip-off is set for 6:30pm at University School of Jackson.
