Memphis, TN - The Collierville Dragons are poised for postseason glory, having secured a crucial playoff game at Dragon Stadium and now setting their sights on the Division I Class 6A Region 8 Championship. The Dragons achieved this milestone with a convincing 27-6 victory over Whitehaven on the road, marking their eighth consecutive win.

Quarterback Grant Troutman, often overlooked in state discussions, showcased his talent with an impressive performance. The senior completed 17 of 26 passes for 217 yards, throwing for one touchdown and rushing for another. His performance solidifies his credentials as a Player of the Year candidate.

Collierville’s defense was the star of the night, stifling Whitehaven’s offense and preventing any touchdowns, with the only points for the Tigers coming from a mishap on special teams. Joseph Myers led the charge with eight tackles, supported by Samuel Iroh with seven and Tristian Euell with six.

Kicker Grayson Lytton continued to be a vital asset for the Dragons, contributing significantly to the scoreboard. He kicked a short field goal early in the game to give Collierville a 3-0 lead and capped off the night with a booming 45-yarder.

Troutman opened the scoring with a 16-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter, keeping the ball himself on a read option. Just before halftime, he connected with Emmanuel Palmer for a touchdown pass, further extending the lead. John Hampton sealed the game with a final nine-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter.

With a perfect record of 9-0, the Dragons are looking to complete their regular season unscathed. Head Coach Joe Rocconi has the team prepared for their regular season finale against Houston, set for next Friday at 7 PM. The stakes are high as Collierville aims to capture the Region Championship.

As the playoffs loom, the Dragons are not only ready to defend their home turf but also to make a deep run, with both their offense and defense firing on all cylinders.
