COLLIERVILLE, TN — Grant Troutman showcased his passing prowess Friday night, throwing for 184 yards and four touchdowns as the Collierville Dragons trampled the Arlington Tigers, 50-7, at Dragon Stadium. The victory improves the Dragons’ record to 5-0, solidifying their position as the only undefeated team in Region 8, 6A.
Troutman was nearly flawless, completing 11 of 14 passes, connecting with four different receivers in a first-half display of offensive dominance. John Hampton, Luke Roeder, Lucas Barksdale, and Emmanuel Palmer each found the end zone before halftime, contributing to a staggering 43-7 lead at the break.
In addition to Troutman's aerial success, the Dragons showcased a balanced attack. Hampton also rushed for a touchdown, while Bryson Johnson added a defensive score with a spectacular interception return.
With a running clock in the second half, backup quarterback Cayson Stanford capped the scoring for Collierville, linking up with Tae Walden, Jr. for a late touchdown. Kicker Grayson Lytton was perfect on the night, converting all five extra-point attempts and adding a 2-point conversion on a rushing play. Backup kicker Hayden Hollenbeck made his only attempt, further solidifying the Dragons' special teams performance.
For Arlington, the lone bright spot came in the first quarter when Bryan Morales connected with Gabriel Willoughby on a halfback pass for a touchdown. The Tigers struggled to contain the Dragons’ offensive firepower, especially the emergence of Eric Ely. The shifty tailback carried the ball six times for 96 yards, consistently finding holes and evading defenders, making him a player to watch in the coming weeks and now on the radar of college coaches as an elite back in the Memphis area.
Looking ahead, Collierville aims to maintain their momentum next week as they head on the road to face the Germantown Red Devils. With their sights set on continuing their undefeated streak, the Dragons are poised for another exciting showdown.
