Memphis, TN – Collierville High's women's cross country program continues to assert its dominance in Tennessee as one of the state’s elite teams. With the 2024 season in full swing, the Lady Dragons have emerged as formidable contenders for the state title, building on their impressive momentum from recent seasons.
The season’s opening race, the Chick-fil-A Saturday Light Fever, set the stage for what promises to be a thrilling year. Competing on the same course where the state championships will be held, Collierville’s women’s team showcased their potential with a strong Top 5 finish, hinting at their readiness to vie for that end goal.
Their performance was solidified just a day ago, on Saturday, August 31, as they claimed victory in the City Auto Memphis Twilight—a highly competitive event featuring 27 teams. This win underscores Collierville’s status as the premier cross country program in West Tennessee.
Key contributors to the team’s success included Scarlett Nash, who finished 6th overall with a time of 19:24.62, Gabrielle Gulstrom, securing 10th place with a time of 19:44.30, and Ava Lang, who finished 14th overall with a time of 20:05.75. Their standout performances were instrumental in leading the Lady Dragons to the impressive title at the highly recruited event.
The Lady Dragons will look to continue their strides when they return to the path, September 13th, at Huntsville, Alabama's Southern Showcase.
