Collierville, TN — Collierville High School kicked off their 2024 football season with a commanding performance against the defending 2A State Champions, Decatur County Riverside, securing a 20-10 victory in their home opener.

The game was tightly contested through the first quarter, with neither team managing to score. However, the second quarter saw the Collierville offense come alive as quarterback Grant Troutman orchestrated three impressive touchdown passes. The 6'4", 195-pound senior connected with Emmanuel Palmer on a 67-yard bomb, Luke Roeder for a 14-yard strike, and Nick Graham for a 31-yard touchdown reception, showcasing his ability to deliver under pressure.

On the defensive side of the ball, Samuel Iroh was a standout performer, leading the team with 10 tackles and causing chaos all over the field Friday night.

With this win, the Dragons start their season on a high note at 1-0. They will face a new challenge next week on the road against Beech High School in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The matchup is set to kick off at 7 p.m., and many of the Dragon faithful are making road trip plans. See you in Middle Tennessee!
