Collierville, Tenn. – Collierville High School Principal Roger Jones announced today the appointment of Orentheus Taylor as the school’s new Athletic Director. Taylor, a versatile and accomplished educator and coach with a rich background in sports, teaching, and leadership, will lead the Dragons’ expansive athletic programs. A multi-sport athlete at Dyersburg High School, Taylor excelled in football, basketball, baseball, and track. His athletic career continued collegiately, where he played football at both the University of Tennessee at Martin and Tennessee State University. He replaces Daron Schoenrock, who accepted an athletic administrative position at the Collierville Schools district office earlier this summer.

“I am thrilled to congratulate Mr. Orentheus Taylor on his appointment as the new Athletic Director of Collierville High School, said Jones. “Mr. Taylor’s passion for education and athletics, combined with his outstanding leadership skills, make him the ideal candidate for this important role. I am confident that under his guidance, our athletic programs will continue to thrive and reach new heights.”

Taylor holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Tennessee State University and two Master’s degrees—one in Special Education from Cambridge College and another in Educational Leadership from Austin Peay State University. With 15 years of teaching experience, Taylor has dedicated the last three years to Collierville High School, where he has served as both a Graduation Interventionist and a Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher. Extending his impact beyond the classroom, he has also been involved with Future Business Leaders of America and My Brother's Keeper, while contributing as an assistant football and basketball coach.

During his lengthy coaching career, Taylor has served as a head football coach at Jackson Central Merry, Trezevant, Liberty Tech, and Westwood High Schools. His notable achievements include being named Tennessee Titans Coach of the Week in his first year at Jackson Central Merry and contributing as an assistant coach on the 2016 state championship football team at Trezevant. In addition to football, his coaching portfolio spans basketball, track, tennis, and softball.

Taylor is married to Megan Taylor, and together they have three children: Omari (18), Ace (11), and Harper (9).
