The Collierville High School football Dragons are one game away from earning a spot in the playoffs after a 48-14 convincing win Thursday over Cordova on the road.
Collierville looks to be peaking at the right time and if all goes like the 1st quarter against the Wolves - this team's destination could continue deep in November.
In just the first twelve minutes Thursday night, Collierville put up 28 points. Aidan Glover connected with Joakim Dodson for a 61-yard score to start the game. On the team's next offensive possession, John Hampton would carry from 9 yards out for a touchdown run. Dodson would soon after find the end zone for the second time with a 2 yard score. Wesley Jackson had a defensive touchdown after recovering a fumble and taking it to the house from 19 yards out with just under a minute to play in quarter one.
The score would be 35-0 at the half after Glover connected with Martez Carter for an 18-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter.
Collierville would add points in the second half with rushing touchdowns by Hampton (3rd quarter) and Finnegan Coffey (4th quarter).
Grayson Litton was 5--for-5 on extra point attempts. Hayden Hollenbeck connected on 1-of-2.
The win sets up a showdown for October 20th that Collierville fans do not want to miss. Whitehaven will come to Dragon Stadium at Landers SportsPlex for a 7pm kickoff. The winner will punch their ticket to the 2023 playoffs. Collierville has a bye next week.
