Collierville put up 11 runs and turned to their ace to complete a sweep in a best of three series over Rossview on Thursday (May 18). The victory for the Dragons claimed the Sectional championship and returns the team to Murfreesboro for next week's State Tournament.

Collierville did most of their damage in the second, third, and fourth innings. The Diamond Dragons had a comfortable 10-2 lead at the end of four innings of play. Rossview would not go down lightly and got into the Dragons bullpen in the fifth.

Union University signee and Collierville starter, Scotty Wyatt, had another strong start to position the team for the win. The 6'3 right-hander went 4 and 2/3 innings, gave up 4 runs on 5 hits, but only 2 of the runs were earned. Nate Myers would come in to relieve and registered the final out in the fifth by getting a soft ground out to Thomas Crabtree at shortstop.

The Dragons would then turn to Crabtree, their ace, for the finish on the mound. After working out of a few kinks and giving up a pair of runs in the 6th, the East Tennessee signee was dominant in the 7th and struck out the side for the celebration. Collierville 11 Rossview 6, final score.

Collierville will now await the bracket for the state tournament. Knoxville's Hardin Valley and Farragut have also punched their ticket to the state tournament. Click on the link below to follow the Road to Murfreesboro.
