Ayden Jacobs and Nate Myers are destined to be a formidable duo for the Collierville High School pitching staff down this year's stretch run into post-season and for the 2024 season. Facing the District 16-AAAA Champion, White Station, the 6'3 right-handers dominated the Spartans line-up with their mix of pitches.
Jacobs got the start and went four innings. He did not allow a hit, walked one, and struck out six. Myers threw the 5th inning and easily got three up and three down to complete the no-hit shutout while striking out two of his own. Collierville won by mercy rule, 13-0, in five innings at USA Stadium.
Three hitters in the Collierville line-up had two hits: JD Whitworth, AJ Greene, and Matthew Autry. Joey Caruso had two RBIs, Greene knocked in three, and Brody Winemiller drove in four.
A highly anticipated elite level high school baseball game is scheduled for Saturday. Collierville (36-7) will play at Arlington (26-9-1) in the winner's bracket of the Region 8 Tournament. It is expected that both team's ace, Eli DeBerry for Arlington and Collierville's Thomas Crabtree, will go toe-to-toe.
First pitch is scheduled for 12pm at the Ballpark at Arlington.
