Dragons Baseball led early but ultimately fell, 4-3, to Arlington in the District 15-AAAA tournament on Thursday night at Houston High's Bill Avant Field.
Collierville jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first after back-to-back singles by J.D. Whitworth and Hayden Short, a double by AJ Greene, and a RBI single by Cael Allen.
Union University signee Scotty Wyatt started on the mound for the Dragons and threw a pair of scoreless innings before giving up two runs in the third and a run in the fourth as Arlington tied the game 3-3. Junior right-hander Jack Lester got two big outs in the bottom of the fourth and was relieved by Tyler Johnson after a hit-by-pitch to start the fifth inning. Johns, an Elon University signee came in to relieve and struck out the side.
Connor McKay homered on a 2-2 count off Johns in the bottom of the sixth that proved to be the game winner.
Collierville outhit Arlington 7-6.
The Dragons will now face elimination Friday, 4:30pm, versus Bartlett at Houston High's Bill Avant Field.
