Jack Lester picked up his first career win while Hayden Short had a career day at the plate with a 4-for-4 performance to lead the Collierville High School baseball team to a season's sweep over Briarcrest Monday evening. The Diamond Dragons grinded out a 6-5 victory and improved to 31-5 in 2023. The fire breathing Dragons will head into the post-season with plenty or momentum.

Both the Dragons and Saints scored a pair of runs in the 2nd inning. Collierville added a run in the 3rd inning, but Briarcrest answered with a 2 spot in the bottom half. Trailing 5-3 going into the 5th inning, Collierville would trim the lead by one run in the 5th and take the lead in the 6th inning with two runs to seal the win.

Alabama-Huntsville signee, Joey Caruso, continues to swing a hot bat and was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.

Lester pitched three innings in relief, did not allow a run or a base on balls, and struck out four.
