The Collierville High School baseball team had a pair of firsts in this week's district series against Bartlett. On Monday, the Dragons were held scoreless for the first time in 2023. Tuesday, it took nearly four hours - the longest duration of a contest this year - to prevail a series sweep versus the Panthers. Tied 1-1 through 11 innings, Cael Allen highlighted a three run twelfth by hitting an opposite field shot that cleared the wood wall at Freeman Park's Elrod Field in Bartlett. Collierville grinded out a 4-1 victory.

Both teams managed a run in the 3rd inning, but the bats were silenced for the remainder of the game - until the 12th inning heroics. After Allen's blast, Collierville added the insurance runs in the 12th on fielding errors by the Panthers.

Austin Smith and AJ Greene had the only other hits for the Dragons. Smith had two runs scored.

Ari Bethea started on the hill for the Dragons and went 6 innings. He allowed 3 hits, 1 earned run, and struck out 10. Keaton Baird went the final six frames and earned the win. He had an impressive 13 strikeouts.

Collierville (27-5) will get little rest and plays a doubleheader on Wednesday. They finish District 15-AAAA play with games against Southwind and Cordova at Patriot Bank Park.
