Collierville High School's baseball team will look to claim the top spot on Saturday in Huntsville, Alabama's Take off Series after a pair of victories on Friday at Toyota Field - the home of the Rocket City Trash Pandas.

The Dragons (8-1) swept Friday's doubleheader over Holtville (AL) and Opelika (AL).

GAME ONE: Dragons 10, Holtville (AL) 2
A 9-run fourth inning proved to be the difference in Friday's opener as the Dragons cruised onward from that point.

Collierville opened up the scoring in the second inning on an RBI single by Matthew Autry. Then trailing 2-1 going into the bottom of the 4th, Collierville pulled away with the 9 run frame.

The Dragons bats continued to stay hot pounding out 12 hits. Tanner Wages, AJ Greene, Brody Winemiller, Joey Caruso, and Autry each had a pair of hits. Autry, the Union University signee, had three RBIs. Fellow Union signee, Scotty Wyatt, was solid on the bump. The right-hander dealt six innings, allowing just three hits, and fanning four.

GAME 2: Dragons 7 Opelika (AL) 0
Three Collierville pitchers combined to toss a 1-hit shutout to lead the Dragons to their sixth straight victory. Sophomore hurler, Aidan Jacobs, got his first career varsity start and picked up the win in fashion. Jacobs went 4 2/3 innings, giving up the lone hit, and struck out two. Keaton Baird threw 1 1/3 innings, striking out two of the three batters faced. Tanish Gadiraju tossed a scoreless seventh.

JD Whitworth hammered his third home run of the season and had three RBIs. Thomas Crabtree had two hits and Autry had his second two-hit performance on the day.

To complete the four game series sweep in Alabama, the Dragons will have to get past in-state rival Oakland. The two Tennessee teams square off in Huntsville at 1pm on Saturday.
