The Collierville High School baseball team (6-1) held on for a 3-1 road victory at Huntsville, Alabama's Take Off Series opener over a talented Stanhope Elmore baseball program.

Led by starting pitcher Ari Bethea, the Dragons sophomore threw a complete game 2-hitter giving up just the lone run. The 6'1, 190 pound right-hander touched 90 MPH with command. He struck out 9 and walked just a pair.

The Dragons had six hits and were led offensively by Bethea's battery mate, AJ Greene, with a 2-for-4 performance. JD Whitworth homered for the second time this season over the right-center wall.

Collierville will be back in action, bright and early, Friday morning for a twin bill. Game one will be against Holtville (AL) at 10am. Game two will feature a match-up versus Alabama perennial power, Opelika, at 1pm.

The Dragons conclude the four game series on Saturday when they play in-state rival, Oakland High School, at 1:30pm.
