The Collierville Baseball team did exactly what you think about when you think about a sign of a good team. Facing University of Tennessee signee, Matthew Dallas, and the Briarcrest Saints on opening day; the Diamond Dragons clawed back from a 5-1 deficit by rallying for five runs in the bottom of the 7th.

A sign of a good team is a team that can come from behind.

A walk-off single put a near-capacity Patriot Bank Park into a frenzy, as the grandstand vibrated noticeably with the winning run crossing the plate. Junior first baseman Tanner Wages delivered the single to right field.

The Dragons did get on the board in the first inning after sophomore lead-off hitter JD Whitworth blistered a line drive single through the six hole. He would later score off fellow classmate AJ Green's sacrifice fly.

Briarcrest took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second and added insurance runs off Collierville ace and East Tennessee State signee Thomas Crabtree for a 5-1 lead before the bottom 7 heroics.

Collierville (1-0) wil be back in action on Wednesday with their first road contest of the season at Germantown. First pitch is scheduled for 5pm at Red Devil Field. Briarcrest (0-1) will participate in the Battle at the Beach in Biloxi, Mississippi for the remainder of the week. Both schools are on Spring Break.
