The Collierville High School men's basketball team saw its magical season come to an end Tuesday night.
The District 15-4A top-seed Dragons suffered a heartbreaking 73-31 loss to District 16-4A two-seed, Memphis Overton, in the Sweet 16 of their TSSAA State Tournament run. It ended one of the most prolific and successful post-seasons in school history.
Collierville won twenty-games for the fourth consecutive year and were crowned champions of the District tournament.
The goal of a return appearance to the state tournament just two years ago fell short. TJ McNeal finished a stellar high school career with 24 points. Senior Antonio Thomas was big for the Dragon this season and added 13 points. And, one of the all-time best to put on a Dragon uniform, Alex Vandenbergh, contributed 12 points.
Thank you to the fans, families, players, and coaches for the historic season.
