Collierville did just enough of that Wednesday night for a 52-49 victory over an athletic Southwind Jaguars team. The Dragons (14-9 overall, 4-3 in District 15-AAAA) swept the regular season matchups over the Jaguars for the first time in school history.
Vandenbergh and McNeal, as they've done all season, were the catalysts. The senior duo combined for 32 points. Left handed sharp-shooter Antonio Thompson tallied 8 points.
The difference maker for the 2022-23 Collierville Basketball squad is their tenacity on defense. A total team effort once again held an opponent under 50 points for the 11th time this season.
The Collierville Lady Dragons were also victorious, defeating the Lady Jaguars 60-31. It was also the women's 2nd win over Southwind this season.
Friday night will be another welcomed challenge when the Arlington Tigers visit Collierville in the MTM Fieldhouse. The Lady Dragons will look for their 12th overall win and 6th in District 15-AAAA. The Dragons men will reach for their 15th overall win and 5th in District 15-AAAA. The scheduled tip-off for the women's game is 6pm and the men's game to follow at 7:30pm.
