The Collierville High School men's basketball team responded to a second challenge this week in District 15-AAAA play. The Dragons showed continued signs of a good team by defeating Southwind 51-47 Friday night inside My Town Movers Fieldhouse. The Dragons improved to 9-2.

Collierville took the lead early in the fourth quarter and never looked back. T.J. McNeal and Alex Vandenbergh continue to show their leadership and elite play to lead the youthful Dragons squad to victory.

The 6'5 Vandenbergh can now play every position on the court and is as physical as any player in the state. He led the Dragons with 17 points - dominating inside the paint - and connecting on free throw attempts.

McNeal has matured into the player many knew he could be. His senior year's poise and composure stands out with the always known skills. He connected on three three-pointers and tallied 15 points that included clutch free throws down the stretch. He only gets better every game.

6'8 center Elijah Lussier contributed 8 points.

Collierville won't have much time to celebrate and will get their biggest challenge of the year when they participate in the Shan Whiteside Classic and go toe-to-toe with the no. 1 team in the state of Mississippi - the Horn Lake Eagles (11-0). Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30pm at Desoto Central.
