Damon Sisa rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns for Houston, and the Mustangs defense fueled an impressive performance to take down no. 2 Collierville on Thursday night in another Region 8 showdown at Landers Stadium-Principle Toyota Field in Germantown.

Sisa got the Mustangs off to a fast start with touchdown runs of 32 and 33 yards in the first quarter. Quarterback Chandler Day would pad the lead in the first half connecting with Derrick Miller Jr. for a 6-yard touchdown reception. Mustangs led 20-0 at the half.

After another Sisa touchdown in the 3rd quarter, Day would scamper for 50 yards for a rushing touchdown of his own and Houston built a 34-0 lead midway through the third quarter.

The Dragons did find life late in the third quarter. Noah Flaskamp found the end zone on a spectacular catch - but was called back - after a very questionable pass interference call on the senior wide receiver.

Sophomore Ari Bethea led an impressive final drive of the game that saw the athlete power his way through the Mustangs defensive line to put the Dragons on the board. Houston 34 Collierville 6. Final. The loss ended a seventeen game, regular season, winning streak that goes down as the longest in school history.

Region 8-6A now gets very interesting and will make the final games to be played in league play - basically must wins. October will be fun and preparation the key.

To show the importance of the remaining games, the current playoff picture looks like this: Collierville and Houston are each 4-1. Bartlett is 3-1 and plays Cordova, which is winless in the region, on Friday. Germantown and Arlington are both 2-2 and they play Friday at GHS. Whitehaven (1-3) hosts White Station (1-3) in a playoff elimination match. Four teams from the region advance to the playoffs.

Collierville will have recovery time with a bye in Week 9. The Drgaons will travel to Bartlett on Friday Oct. 21. They'll have the regular season finale on Oct. 28 when they welcome the Arlington Tigers to Dragon Stadium.
