The Collierville Dragons started fast and cruised to a 47-0 victory over the Wooddale Cardinals at Dragon Stadium on Friday evening to open the 2022 football season.

Collierville (1-0) tallied 191 yards of offense: 62 passing and 129 rushing. Senior tailback Andy Bell led the Dragons' runners with 45 yards on five carries and a touchdown. Sophomore tailback Ari Bethea had 39 yards on the ground on four carries and a touchdown.

Junior quarterback Aidan Glover finished 5-for-7 passing for 53 yards and four touchdowns before senior quarterback Logan Johns relieved him in the second half. Johns completed his only pass for nine yards. The state's top ranked tight end in the 2024 class, Eli Sisson, led the Dragons with two receptions for 21 yards and a pair of scores. Joakim Dodson, Noah Flashkamp, and Caison Crouse all had touchdown receptions to add to the offensive attack.

On the defensive front, the Dragons held the Cardinals (0-1) to just 4 yards of total offense, including -7 on the ground. The Dragons also racked up an interception, two sacks, and six tackles for loss. Sophomore linebacker AJ Greene led all tacklers with five tackles, two solo stops and three assists.

After losing the coin toss and receiving the kickoff, the Collierville offense immediately made their presence known with quick work. In the third possession of the game, Glover connected with Flashkamp for the season's initial score. This offense will be worth the price of admission for the duration of the season.

Next up, Collierville returns to Dragon Stadium and will host Douglass at 7:00pm next Friday. The game will be live streamed on Dragons Network via GoDragonsGo.com.
