Collierville Trap Finishes 4th at National Championships

This past week, the CHS trap team travelled to Marengo, Ohio to compete in the 2022 SCTP Nationals Team Championship. All members of both the senior varsity, junior varsity squad and middle school squads had good showings.

Dragons Senior Varsity had the best showing in team history. The squad took 4th in Varsity Squad Division, 5th in High School Varsity Division, and 5th in Senior Team Division. They competed against nearly 200 other squads from across the country. Squad members consisted of Seniors, Patrick Cowan and Ben Brazille, Juniors, Cody Hinton and Emma Lott and Sophomore, Rhett Colon.

Capturing individual honors were Emma Lott placing 20th out of 226 competitors in ladies senior varsity. Cody Hinton placed 8th while Patrick Cowan took 21st against more than 860 athletes in the men’s senior varsity. Rhett and Ben placed 133rd and 246th respectively.

Tyler Carrier placed 8th out of 412 athletes in junior varsity's single trap men’s division.

In extended yard trap, Cody Hinton placed 33rd out of 236 athletes in the senior varsity men’s division. Tyler Carrier and Patrick Michiels placed 14th and 9th respectively out of 87 athletes in the men’s junior varsity division.

In doubles trap, Cody Hinton placed 5th out of 283 athletes in senior varsity men’s division. Tyler Carrier and Patrick Michiels placed 16th and 31st out of 101 athletes in the men’s junior varsity division.

The Dragons are set for a huge season during the 2022-23 school year that will likely bring collegiate scholarship offers for team members. CHS has yet to have a trap team member compete at the next level.
