A Collierville High School graduate and his Ole Miss Rebel teammates are a win shy of punching their ticket to the College World Series. Jack Dougherty, a 2020 alumni, was lights out in a combined shutout that helped Ole Miss defeat Southern Miss, 10-0, in the Hattiesburg Super Regional Saturday (June 11).
Dougherty came in relief with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. The fierce right-hander would finish the remainder of the 3.1 innings. His no-hit performance earned the save in Ole Miss' first shutout of the 2022 campaign. He pounded the zone from the get-go and walked zero Golden Eagles hitters
The save was the second of the season for the former Dragon ace.
Ole Miss and Southern Miss will go to battle again on Sunday. The game will air on ESPNU at 3 p.m. CT.
Monday's "if necessary" game would also air on ESPNU at 3 p.m. CT if it is deemed necessary.
