After a district tournament championship, region championship, and sectional championship; Collierville High baseball continued its success in their opening game of the 2022 state tournament. The Diamond Dragons defeated Riverdale on Tuesday to advance into the winner's bracket.

With the win, Collierville has now won twelve straight.

The Dragons grabbed an early lead in the first inning by putting up three runs in the top half. The game eventually became tied in the 4th at 4-4. Six innings later and into the 10th, Collierville broke up the tie by plating two. Grayson Saunier doubled, Thomas Crabtree was intentionally walked, and pinch hitter Tyler Johns smoked a two-run double into the right-centerfield gap for the game-winning RBI.

Crabtree started on the hill for the Dragons and went four innings. Relief from Keaton Baird and Scotty Wyatt was clutch. Baird went four innings, without surrounding a run, and struck out four. Wyatt picked up the win two innings of work. The deceptive right-hander did not allow a hit, or a walk, and fanned a pair.

Crabtree was 3-for-4 at the plate. Senior shortstop Cade Leatherwood had two hits.

Collierville's opponent in the winner's bracket is still to be determined. Farragut and Hendersonville were suspended due to weather. The game will resume play at 10am this morning. Riverdale gets the loser immediately after and then the Dragons meet the winner. An approximate start time is 2pm.
