For the third time in the last five years, the Collierville High School baseball team is region champions.

Wednesday, the Diamond Dragons knocked off Houston 3-0 to win the title.

With the victory, the team's 35th in 2022, Collierville earns the opportunity to host Friday's sectional. Henry County fell to Rossview and will make the trip to Patriot Bank Park. Time to be announced.

Thomas Crabtree, the junior phenom on the mound, was lights out with a complete game shutout. Stating his best pitching performance of his young career, Crabtree worked all seven innings pounding the strike zone. His demeanor was one that you see in a post-season professional game. He struck out twelve Mustangs and allowed just three hits to a strong lineup from top to bottom.

Collierville (35-9) scored all of their runs in the bottom of the 4th. Christian Dunn and Grayson Saunier led off with singles. Braden Sheals would deliver the game winning-RBI single and Austin Smith drove in a pair, for insurance, with a base hit.

Friday's winners punch their ticket to the TSSAA Spring Fling.
