Collierville Baseball Drops Weekend Finale To South Gibson 5-4

The Collierville Dragons offense outhit South Gibson's nine to six, but the Diamond Dragons fell to the Hornets on Jack Brafa's walk off single in the bottom of the 7th on Saturday (April 16). Th Dragons had a four run lead headed into the bottom of the 7th before giving four runs in the final frame. Joey Caruso suffered the loss for the Dragons.

Offensively, Collierville was led by Austin Smith's 2-for-2 performance at the plate. The Dragons also had doubles from Christian Dunn, Marcus Lee, and Grayson Saunier.

Junior left-hander Tyler Johns started on the mound for the maroon and white. Johns delivered 3.1 innings and gave up one run. Keaton Baird relieved and lasted 2.2 innings. The junior right-hander gave up two runs and struck out a pair.

Collierville (20-7) will be be back in action on Monday when they travel to Arkansas and take on the Marion Patriots. Saunier, an Ole Miss signee, is expected to the toe the rubber for the Dragons. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm at Marion High School, 1 Patriot Drive, Marion, Arkansas.
