The voters have spoken. And they have chosen Phil Dotson and Emmie Moore as this week’s Daily Memphian high school basketball players of the week.
Dotson, a senior guard at Collierville, earned 51% of the vote on the boys side after leading his team to a pair of impressive District 15-AAAA victories. He finished with 21 points while doing yeoman’s work on the defensive end against Southwind standout Chris Martin as Collierville won, 69-60, on Jan. 25. He followed that up three days later with a team-high 14 points in a 69-52 win over Arlington.
CBHS standout Chandler Jackson finished in second place with 29% of the total. Rounding out this week’s list of candidates were Bartlett’s Amarr Knox, Northpoint’s Christian Gilliland and Tyler Byrd of Tipton-Rosemark, the area’s leading scorer at nearly 31 points per game.
