The Collierville wrestling team competed in the Stewart Schay Black Horse Invitational, hosted by Houston High School, this weekend in the team's season opening tournament. The team finished 8th overall with 104.5 points in a field of 22 that had top teams from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

Senior Cameron Cook captured gold for the Dragons, defeating Christian Brothers' Mario Robledo 7-0 by decision and winning the championship in the 160-pound bracket.

Cook advanced to the finals after defeating Brother Martin's Gabriel Pierre, who is ranked as one of the top wrestlers in the 160-pound division in the state of Louisiana.

After the first set of rounds on Friday, Collierville also had sophomore Derek Corbin advance to the semi-finals. Corbin would finish fourth in the 152-pound division after falling to MUS' Ian McGehee - the eventual champion.

Collierville's Dustin Branham (195) finished 5th, Damen Pullen (145) 6th, and Aiden Miller (170) 7th - which sealed the top 8 finish for the Dragons.
