The Collierville football team set new standards this season. Ravenwood was able to give the Dragons their toughest challenge of the season and ended a magical run in Collierville on Friday (Nov. 12). Ravenwood would prevail 32-22 in the 2nd round playoff game.

Collierville was able to strike first in the first quarter when quarterback Houston Wilhelm found Tyler Collier for a 12-yard touchdown reception. Ravenwood would respond with back-to-back scores from Florida State commit Chris Parson and a special teams blocked punt for a scoop and score. The Dragons would regain the lead with their established direct snap to Collier and led 14-13 with just over ten minutes to go in the half. Ravenwood would then take over.

The Raptors would again lean on Parson and he accepted the challenge. Parson would throw for a touchdown pass to end of the first half and connect again with one of his go to receiving targets to begin the second half. Ravenwood tailback Carter Pace had a rushing score for the dagger at the end of the third quarter.

As expected, the Dragons did not quit. Collier would find the end zone for the third time and the Dragons would execute the two-point conversion. It would be the final score to the high skill level football game.

The loss would be the first for Collierville (11-1) in 2021 and eliminates the Dragons from their goal of a state championship run. Heads should be held high for a team that was picked to finish 5th in Region 8. The best is yet to come for this program.
