The Collierville Dragons kept their season going with Friday night’s first round playoff win with the same brand of football they've displayed all year - balance from all phases of the game.

While the Dragons (11-0) had relatively little trouble in ending Independence's (4-7) season with a 44-13 home win, much of the damage was done with untested players all over the field.

Leading that effort was the special teams. Harrison Craig returned two punts for touchdowns that highlighted the evening and earned his opportunity to "ring the bell" - a Collierville football tradition after victory. Miami-Ohio commit, Hudson Hollenbeck, connected on a 47-yard field goal to add to the special teams production.

Troy Martin exceeded the 1,000 yard rushing mark with 20 carries for 107 yards. He found the end zone twice. Quarterback Houston Wilhelm scrambled from 30 yards out - showing his athleticism - to add a rushing touchdown. The night was capped off with a Daniel Rainey 47-yard interception return for a score.

Collierville moves on to host Ravenwood in the second round of the TSSAA 6A playoffs next Friday at Dragon Stadium. Ravenwood defeated Whitehaven, 21-14, in Friday’s opening round. The Collierville Dragons have now won eleven straight football games and will look to tie the most wins in school history next Friday. The 1981 team went 12-1 and was recognized at halftime.
