After a bye week, the Collierville High School football team took on Arlington in the second round of the 6A state playoffs Friday night. In a tight contest throughout, the Dragons prevailed in the second half and went on to win 30-20.

Collierville got on the board first when Ethan Pettigrew connected with Tyler Collier for a 29-yard touchdown. Arlington answered with a touchdown pass and soon after with an interception that was returned for a touchdown. Troy Martin rushed from 40-yards out for a Dragons touchdown and to even the score. Just before the half, Collierville kicker Hudson Hollenbeck hit a 45-yard field goal to give the Dragons a 17-14 lead.

Early in the third quarter, Arlington scored on a 1-yard touchdown, but missed the PAT and led 20-17.

It was all Collierville from there. Hudson Hollenbeck continued to show his skills with a 26-yard and a 23-yard field goal. Dylan Powell put the icing on the cake with a 5-yard touchdown run near the end of the 4th quarter.

The Dragons will play the Houston/Bartlett winner next Friday in the state quarterfinals. It will be the first time that Collierville Football has advanced to that stage since 1993. Game location and time is to be announced.
