In the aftermath of the Dragons' football victory Friday night, the applause drifted well past the region win and setting up showdowns with future opponents Arlington and Bartlett.

Collierville's 21-14 win over Houston sparked conversation about the team's strength training, the power of the offensive line, and the break out game for junior wide receiver Tyler Collier.

The Dragons football team continues to get better with experience in all phases of the game after a challenging schedule to start the season that included: Briarcrest Christian, Gallatin, Evangelical Christian, and Cabot, Arkansas.

Houston established the early lead in this one - scoring at the end of the first quarter for a 7-0 margin. Collierville responded in the 2nd quarter with a Dylan Powell touchdown run and Ethan Pettigrew connecting with Collier from 20-yards out. The Dragons led at the half 14-7.

The play of the game was in the 3rd quarter when Pettigrew and Collier again connected, this time for 80 yards, and the Dragons led 21-7 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Houston (2-4) managed a touchdown early in the 4th quarter to reduce the deficit to 21-14, but Collierville controlled the ball for the final eight minutes - behind the offensive line - to make it a final.

Collierville (4-2) will look for continued improvement and has a challenge with the Arlington Tigers set for October 23. Kickoff is 7pm at Dragon Stadium at the school's Landers SportsPlex.
