It was a pitching duel on opening day at Patriot Bank Park as the 2020 Collierville Baseball team defeated Briarcrest Christian 1-0.

What Sam Poindexter started, Jack Dougherty finished.

Poindexter dealt the first five, striking out eight, and allowing only one base on balls. Dougherty got the six-out save while striking out a pair.

The Diamond Dragons (1-0) were able to put the run on the board in the third inning on a RBI single by senior second baseman Mitch Austin. Cade Leatherwood and Poindexter had the only other hits for Collierville. Briarcrest (0-1) scattered five hits.
