The Collierville High School Swimming team finished 10th overall at the 2020 Tennessee State Championship. The meet took place at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville this past Friday and Saturday. The Dragons competed with a roster of 20 swimmers, 12 boys and 8 girls, all qualified with individual state cuts.

On the first day of the meet, Collierville qualified for four finals, two individual with Jordan Norris and Erin Milligan, and two relays one on the boys and one on the girls side. Jordan Norris scored 13 points with a 6th place finish on the 50 Freestyle with a 21.32. That same night, Erin Milligan set a new school record on the 200 Individual Medley with a 2:04.92. That time placed her 4th on the final, bringing home important 15 points. On the 200 Medley Relay our girls team composed by Emma Hurdle, Jana Chao, Haylee Haynes, and Erin Milligan broke another school record with a final time of 1:52.72. That time placed Collierville 14th adding 6 points to our total score. The Boys 200 Medley Relay composed by Gabriel Stark, Ben Simcoe, Jordan Norris, and Dylan Cline swam on a 1:41.71 and finished 13th, scoring 8 points for the Dragons.

The second day was even better for Collierville. The night started with Erin Milligan breaking another school record; this time on the 100 Freestyle with a 50.05. On top of the school record, Milligan brought home the bronze medal and highest rank of a Collierville swimmer this year at state. On the 100 Backstroke, Jordan Norris finished 7th with a new school record of 52.18. Our highest scoring event of the meet was the Girls 200 Freestyle Relay. The Collierville relay made by Elle Recor, Erin Milligan, Julia Cavanaugh, and Emma Hurdle finished 7th and scored 24 points. The Collierville Boys 200 Freestyle Relay also had a great swim with a 1:29.67 bringing home a 9th place and 18 points. The relay was made by Jordan Norris, Gabriel Stark, Dylan Cline, and Ben Foster.

After his first season leading the Dragons and first time leading the team at the State Championships, coach Gui Passos was very happy with the individual and team results. “It's great to maintain our top 10 rank at the state level and also have 4 team records broken at the meet."
