COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. — Seamus Kratochvil found the back of the net early in the second half, and the Collierville defense made it stand, as the Dragons secured a 1-0 victory over Houston Thursday evening to claim the Region 8-AAA Championship at Collierville High School.
With the win, Collierville improves to 14-1-2 on the season and earns the right to host Saturday’s Sectional matchup. The Dragons will face Henry County, which fell 1-0 to Rossview in its regional contest.
Kratochvil’s decisive goal provided the spark Collierville needed in what was a tightly contested match. After breaking through early in the second half, the Dragons leaned on their back line to preserve the lead against a Houston squad known for its offensive firepower.
Houston will now travel to Rossview for its Sectional matchup, while Collierville prepares for the home contest with a trip to the state tournament on the line.
Both Sectional winners will advance to the TSSAA State Championships, set to take place next week in Murfreesboro.
