The Collierville High School Lady Dragon soccer team capped off a historic regular season with a dramatic 5-4 victory over Houston, securing an undefeated record of 10-0-1 heading into the postseason.

Playing on the road at Houston Middle School, the Lady Dragons wasted no time asserting their dominance. Just four minutes into the match, Collierville struck first with an early goal that set the tone. Sophomore standout Sophie Cogan doubled the lead with a composed finish off an assist from Kaitlyn Lewis, making it 2-0 with 31:52 remaining in the first half.

Houston responded with a direct free kick goal from Scarlett Cowles at the 16:14 mark, cutting the lead to 2-1. But Cogan wasn’t finished—she converted a penalty kick with 12:16 left in the half to notch her second goal of the night. Moments later, Caroline Anglin added to the tally with a powerful strike from 10 yards out, extending the lead to 4-1.

Just before halftime, Houston’s Nia Gautreaux headed in a goal with only two seconds left, sending the teams into the break with Collierville leading 4-2.

Early in the second half, Anglin netted her second goal of the match with a left-footed finish, assisted by Cogan, pushing the score to 5-2. Despite a late surge from Cowles, who added two more goals for Houston, the Lady Dragons held firm to secure the win.

With the victory, Collierville finishes the regular season unbeaten and now turns its focus to the postseason.

The team’s stellar performance has also drawn national attention, with expectations high that the Lady Dragons will be featured in next week’s United Soccer Coaches Association Top 25 National Rankings.
