Collierville, Tenn. — Dragon fever is alive and well in the great community of Collierville, Tennessee.
On a rare cool and comfortable Saturday night in August, approximately 3,000 fans packed Dragon Stadium at Landers SportsPlex for a high-energy season kickoff event that celebrated the spirit of Collierville Football. What wasn’t rare, however, was the electric atmosphere that set the tone for an exciting 2025 football season in The Ville.
The event brought together all sorts of Dragons - the Pride of Collierville, Collierville High Cheer, Collierville Middle Cheer, West Collierville Middle Cheer, Collierville Dragon Dancers, Collierville High Dance and youth cheerleaders and football players from across the community. The highlight of the event is always the inspiring message from Head Football Coach Joe Rocconi, followed by the much-anticipated 'Meet the Players' for Collierville High School Football. This year, Coach Rocconi’s message was simple yet powerful: unFINISHed.
Hosted by the Collierville High School Football Booster Club and featuring the iconic voices of Collierville Football, Hal Stansbury and Richie Whaley, the evening was a vibrant showcase of Friday night pride—past, present, and future.
The Dragons officially kick off their 2025 season on Saturday, August 23, with a home game against East Nashville, followed by a matchup against Oxford (MS) - Friday, August 29.
You won’t want to miss these two matchups, showcasing top-tier collegiate prospects on both sides of the ball - just before college football season. Get your popcorn ready for 2025!
